In Yokai Watch 1, players take on the role of Keita (or alternatively, a female protagonist named Akiho), a young boy who receives a special watch from a mysterious old man. This watch allows him to see and befriend Yokai, supernatural creatures from Japanese folklore. The player must explore the world, battle Yokai, and collect new friends to add to their team.
